Researcher Exchange Program
Selection Procedures
The selection process for this program is conducted through an internal by JSPS and consultation with the counterpart organizations.
Based on the document review and the panel review conducted by the JSPS International Program Committee, JSPS will select the prospective candidates for nomination to the counterpart organizations. Following consultations with the counterpart organizations, the final decision regarding acceptance or non-acceptance will be made, and the result will be notified to the applicants and to the heads of their affiliated institutions.
Selection Criteria
The following criteria are utilized in the selection process:
- If the research content has high scientific value and if the visit is expected to advance research in the subject field (Scientific value)
- Whether the applicant and researcher in the counterpart country have clearly communicated in advance, and whether the research plan is judged to be both concrete and feasible (Concreteness and feasibility)
- Whether the visit can be expected to spawn joint research and networking that will be sustainably developed in the future (Future potential)
In addition to the above criteria, the following point is also considered:
- When applicants have already conducted a long-term stay in the counterpart country for study and/or research purposes, they must clearly state the significance of revisiting that country.
- If the research content has high scientific value and if the visit is expected to advance research in the subject field (Scientific value)
- Whether the applicant and researcher in the counterpart country have clearly communicated in advance, and whether the research plan is judged to be both concrete and feasible (Concreteness and feasibility)
- Whether the visit can be expected to spawn joint research and networking that will be sustainably developed in the future (Future potential)
