Budget
JSPS budget for the 2023 fiscal year totals ￥281.7 billion. This includes ￥27.5 billion in operating expense subsidies from the National Treasury, ￥132.9 billion in subsidies for Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research, and ￥0.5 billion for the “Leading Initiative for Excellent Young Researchers” program. Also included are the ￥104.7 billion Multi-year Fund for Grants-in-Aid financed by the government and the ￥14.9 billion for the Program for Promoting the Enhancement of Research Universities with a Regional Core and Distinctive Characteristics. Subsidies and grants allocated by the Government of Japan constitute 99.9% of the JSPS budget.
