Budget
JSPS budget for the 2023 fiscal year totals ¥281.7 billion. This includes ¥27.5 billion in operating expense subsidies from the National Treasury, ¥132.9 billion in subsidies for Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research, and ¥0.5 billion for the “Leading Initiative for Excellent Young Researchers” program. Also included are the ¥104.7 billion Multi-year Fund for Grants-in-Aid financed by the government and the ¥14.9 billion for the Program for Promoting the Enhancement of Research Universities with a Regional Core and Distinctive Characteristics. Subsidies and grants allocated by the Government of Japan constitute 99.9% of the JSPS budget.
