Since its establishment in 2004, US and Canada JSPS Alumni Association  has continued to develop its activities with U.S.-based researchers who have been funded by JSPS as its core members. Later the association opened its membership to the JSPS fellows in Canada and recently becoming more active, with the California chapter and the Alberta-British Columbia Chapter being established in 2024. The current organization consists of regular members, associate members and honorary members.
