The major activity of the Eastern Africa Alumni Association in 2025 was the Executive Committee Meeting and Workshop held in Zambia in November.
During the Executive Committee Meeting, members discussed future plans to organize online information sessions and workshops targeting researchers across Sub-Saharan African countries in order to further strengthen academic exchange and alumni engagement in the region.
The workshop held in Zambia provided a valuable opportunity for executive members to share their experiences as JSPS fellows in Japan, their subsequent research activities, and their current professional positions with students and young researchers. The presentations generated significant interest and meaningful discussion among participants.
In December, the JSPS Alumni Presidents’ Meeting was held at the JSPS Headquarters in Tokyo. The current Association President, Prof. Makangara, attended the meeting and engaged in productive discussions with other alumni association presidents. Participants exchanged ideas on how to further strengthen alumni activities and discussed strategies for expanding alumni membership in the future.
