Activities in FY2022

Activities of the 2022-2023 Australia-Japan Foundation Grants (AJF2022099):
  • 1. First workshop of the Australia-Japan Collaborative Research Network (AJCRN): Critical Materials and Energy Transition, held in Japan at Fukuoka University on 25 February 2023.
The workshop helped initiate positive outcomes by facilitating greater awareness of the energy transition and nurturing collaborations between Australian and Japan’s researchers across jointly funded projects. The workshop was hosted by Fukuoka University and co-hosted by Waseda University
  • 2. 2nd workshop of the Australia-Japan Collaborative Research Network (AJCRN): Critical Materials and Energy Transition will be held at Curtin University, Perth, Australia on 18 July 2023. This workshop attracted more than 15 delegates from Japan (Waseda University, University of Hyogo, Fukuoka University, Nagasaki University, and Kyushu University) in addition to Japan General Consul in Perth and many Japanese companies.
  • 3. Running several seminars for different Japanese universities ( across Japan), these seminars will target HDR students and early career researchers interested in critical materials and energy transition, for two weeks during the period (January- Feb 2024).

Other activities:
  • Successful New Colombo Plan (NCP34332-DFAT) grant in 2022 with Japan, where I led nine chemical engineering undergraduate students to complete their two-week New Colombo Plan study tour in Japan at Fukuoka University (14-28 Nov 2022). 
  • Successful Sakura Science Program (SSP-JSTA) grant in Sep 2022. 
  • The SAKURA SCIENCE Program is a short-term invitation program to give aspiring youth opportunities to experience cutting-edge science and technology in Japan. I successfully secured funds from Japan Science and Technology Agency (JSTA) to visit Fukuoka University with two Curtin undergraduate Chemical Engineering students for 10 days (1 -10 September 2022).
  • Successful research grant from the government of Hyogo, Japan in March 2023.
