Program for Forming Japan’s Peak Research Universities (J-PEAKS)
Accompanying Support
In this program, an Accompanying Team has been formed within the JSPS to provide the necessary advice and recommendations to help the selected universities effectively carry out their initiatives. Specifically, it takes on the following responsibilities:

| (1) Grasping and visualizing the status of university initiatives | By aligning the university’s understanding with the Accompanying Team’s understanding, it creates an environment where stakeholders can engage in dialogue on the same level to help realize the university’s vision. |
| (2) Promoting collaboration among universities | The Accompanying Team promotes collaboration among selected universities and the sharing of best practices and know-how on common challenges. |
| (3) Providing advice and recommendations to universities | The Accompanying Team provides advice based on expert knowledge from the perspective of enhancing effectiveness for specific initiatives deemed necessary to realize the university’s vision. |
| (4) Supporting assessment-based improvements | The Accompanying Team encourages the universities to take specific actions to address the areas for improvement pointed out by the Program Promotion Committee for J-PEAKS. |
The Accompanying Team consists of a lead supporter, deputy supporters, supporters, advisors, and liaisons.
Those supporters are responsible for providing accompanying support to each selected university and for offering the necessary advice and recommendations through dialogue with the assigned universities. Liaisons are appointed by each selected university, serving as a bridge for dialogue between the Accompanying Team and the university, as well as rolling out support measures within the university. Advisors provide advice and recommendations based on specialized knowledge on startups, financial strategies, and other issues that may arise at the selected universities.
In addition to dialogue held directly between the supporters and the selected universities, the Accompanying Team carries out Comprehensive Coordination Meetings for Accompanying Support, site visits to universities, and study sessions in order to check the progress being made and promote communication among the selected universities themselves.
