Applications must be submitted to JSPS by a host researcher in Japan via the head of their university or institution.
The system will be available approximately two months before the application periods set by JSPS.

On May 27, 2022, partial changes were made in the application forms for Invitational Fellowships for Research in Japan.
The old application forms are accepted, so it’s not necessary to remake the old forms into the new application forms.
The difference between the old and new application forms does not affect the selection process.

Old:
・”6 Measures to protect human rights and to ensure compliance with laws and regulations”
in “Research Proposal Document” (L-2 and S-2) of Invitational Fellowships for Research in Japan (Long- and Short-term)
Old:
The old application forms are accepted, so it’s not necessary to remake the old forms into the new application forms.

Describe concretely within one page (1) the purpose of inviting the candidate (invited overseas researcher) and (2) the significance of conducting joint research with the candidate (invited overseas researcher).
New:
Describe concretely within one page (1) the purpose of inviting the candidate (invited overseas researcher) and (2) the significance of holding discussions/opinion exchanges, receiving lectures, and/or conducting other activities with the candidate (invited overseas researcher).

Old:
Describe the measures and actions that you will take if the invitation plan involves compliance with the related laws and regulations (e.g. research requiring the consent and cooperation of the other party when implementing the research plan, research requiring consideration for the handling of personal information, and research requiring efforts regarding bioethics and safety measures).・・・
New:
Describe in half a page the measures and actions that you will take if the invitation plan involves compliance with the related laws and regulations (e.g. research requiring the consent and cooperation of the other party when implementing the research plan, research requiring consideration for the handling of personal information, and research requiring efforts regarding bioethics and safety measures).・・・
