* As for applications from Canadian researchers, they are recruited and screened by Mitacs Inc. Successful applications are sent to the Canadian Embassy in Japan, which compiles them and submits nominations to JSPS.
JSPS asks the prospective host institutions whether they will officially accept the nominees; and upon confirmation, selects the successful applicants, and then notifies the nominating authorities of the results. Concurrently, JSPS sends a formal letter of invitation to each successful applicant through the designated nominating authorities.
