JSPS Has Released New Promotional Videos
June 5, 2026
The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2032. In anticipation of this milestone, we have created a video that reflects on our long history of supporting academic research and shares our vision for the future. At the heart of every research endeavor lies a small spark of inspiration. This video introduces JSPS’s role in supporting the environment where such inspiration can emerge.
Full Version: Empowering Researchers
In the video, we look back on JSPS’s history through archival photographs and introduce our four core roles today. The video also highlights Nobel Prize laureates connected with JSPS, underscoring our enduring commitment to supporting academic research in Japan. In addition, many contemporary researchers who have participated in JSPS programs kindly contributed photographs from their research settings. Through these images, the video symbolically portrays how the seeds of future discoveries are being born even at this very moment.

Alongside the video production, we’ve also completed a special 100th‑anniversary logo. It appears in the video, so be sure to look out for it.
For the English versions, we are delighted to feature Mr. Chris Wells as the narrator. With his clear, compelling voice and rich expressiveness, he skillfully conveys JSPS’s activities and aspirations for the future, bringing added depth to the videos.
During the recording session, Mr. Wells carefully considered the intent of each scene and the meaning behind every line, delivering the narration with precision and care. His calm and refined narration contributes greatly to the distinctive appeal that only the English versions can offer.
