R063 Committee on Integration of Highly Efficient Energy Conversion Materials and Device Technologies
Electric energy is an important infrastructure that supports our society. Although frequency control, output control, etc. can now be easily achieved and higher efficiency has also been achieved, even higher efficiency is required to meet the demand for inexpensive, reliable, and sustainable energy.
This committee was brought together by a wide range of researchers in semiconductor and magnetic materials from academia and industry with energy as the keyword. The committee aims to share the technology for efficient utilization of electric energy in a wide dynamic range from megawatts to milliwatts between industry and academia, and to implement the findings in society through close collaboration between academia and industry.
The team will share the so-called "seeds" of technology held by academia through committee meetings and study groups and discuss solutions to problems recognized by industry. The team will also discuss strategies for social implementation of the results. In cases where a solution cannot be found using only the seeds already possessed by academia, the team will consider conducting academic research to find a solution, utilizing the mechanism of joint research between industry and academia. This will enable highly efficient energy conversion over a wide energy range and contribute to the realization of a sustainable society.
