On July 10, 2026, the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (President: SUGINO Tsuyoshi) convened a meeting of the International Prize for Biology Committee (chaired by Dr. FUJIYOSHI Yoshinori, Specially Appointed Professor, Institute of Science Tokyo) and decided to award the 42nd International Prize for Biology to Dr. Sharon Rugel Long, 75, USA. Dr. Long is Steere-Pfizer Professor of Biological Sciences, Department of Biology – Stanford University. The field of this year’s prize is Biology of Symbiosis (interspecific interactions).
