Summer Program 2024—Research Report Presentation and Closing Ceremony
October 1, 2024
On August 26, 2024, the Research Report Presentation and Closing Ceremony for the Summer Program 2024 took place in Tokyo.
The JSPS Summer Program is a component of the JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowships for Research in Japan. In partnership with the Graduate University for Advanced Studies (SOKENDAI), the program offers young pre- and postdoctoral researchers from North America and Europe the opportunity to receive orientation in Japanese culture and language and to conduct research under the guidance of host researchers at Japanese universities or research institutes for two months during the summer. The selection of researchers is based on nominations from six countries: the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Canada, and Sweden.
In FY2024, the program had 95 researcher participants. Starting in June, they conducted research at Japanese universities and research institutes. On Monday, August 26, the researchers who had completed their two-month stay delivered their research report presentations. The event commenced with opening remarks by SOKENDAI Executive Director YAMAMOTO Satoshi and JSPS Executive Director MIZUMOTO Tetsuya, followed by the presentation of research reports from six researchers representing the program participants from each country. Certificates were then awarded to the participants at the Closing Ceremony.
Following the Closing Ceremony, the two-month program concluded with a farewell party.
We extend our best wishes to all researchers who participated in the program for future success.
