Promoting Gender Equality in JSPS Programs

To advance science, it is important that researcher diversity is to be secured in ways that allows each researcher to exercise his/her potential irrespective of age, gender, research field, or affiliated organization.

While Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) has provided researchers with support in building their careers that is also responsive to their life events, JSPS established the “Basic Guidelines for Promoting Gender Equality in JSPS Programs” in March 2020 to continue advancing gender equal participation. JSPS places a high level of priority on promoting the equal participation of women in areas of science and carries out its mission of providing stable and sustainable support for the activities of researchers.

This website offers researchers relevant information to balance their future research with life events for the further promotion of gender equal participation.

JSPS has a page on its website, called “CHEERS!,” through which it widely disseminates information on balancing research careers with life events, while providing information including statistical data, overseas examples, and good practices on gender equality in various research fields. This website is available in only Japanese language.
