1. Background:

JFFoS has its origins in a March 2005 discussion between the heads of JSPS, MAEE, MESR, and the CNRS on initiatives to promote exchange among young researchers, which was to become part of the framework of The Japan-France Summit Meeting between Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi and French President Jacques Chirac.

The symposium venue alternates between Japan and France.

About 80 (40 from each side)
Each session comprises two PGMs* (one from each side), a chair, two speakers (one from each side), and the general participants.
