Project for Establishing Core Universities for Internationalization (Global 30)



For Japanese universities to contribute to the advancement of culture, science and technology amidst rapid globalization and intensifying competition among the world’s top universities, it is deemed effective to focus resource investment in those with high potential to serve as hubs for internationalization.


The Global 30 program provides funding support for core universities, which is aimed at elevating their international competitiveness among the world’s top universities and at creating an attractive environment for overseas students, while fostering students and researchers capable of playing active international roles.

Eligible institutions

National, public and private universities with a concrete plan and medium-to-long term vision for developing themselves into hub institutions capable of attracting high-quality students and researchers from abroad.
