- Outline of Conferences:
Two plenary notes have been given by Dr. V.J. Fratello (Integrated Photonics, Inc., USA) on Liquid Phase Epitaxy of Oxide Films with aspects covering history and future, and Prof. H. Amano (Meijo University, Japan) on Growth of Group III Nitrides for UV and Green Light Emitting Devices as a new lighting source for human being that is clean and benign. Excellent keynotes, invited, and oral contributions have been given during the whole conference. On the first afternoon of the meeting, the Opening Ceremony was held and the CGCT-4 award was presented to Prof. Minhua Jiang from Shandong University, China for his outstanding contributions in the field of crystal growth and crystal technology. Prof. T. Fukuda (Tohoku University, Japan) gave a commemorative lecture for his award the Jan Czochralski Gold Medal, which he received in 2007. It is always very inspiring for young researchers to meet such famous crystal growers. A Young Scientist Meeting has been held on the last day to expand the global network between young researchers. This initiative was supported by the CGCT-4 committee. About 40 young researchers who attended CGCT-4 joined the meeting and 10 of them gave a short presentation to introduce their own work and laboratory and the others represented posters. Light meals and drinks were served during the Young scientist Meeting and everyone enjoyed it. It was a pleasure to communicate with many researchers from different fields. This was a special meeting that previously CGCT did not have. It was organized completely by PhD students from Tohoku University and it was very successful.
