| 2. Summary |
The 12th International Superconductive Electronics Conference (ISEC 2009) was held in June 16-19, 2009, Fukuoka, Japan. The conference was co-organized by the Superconductive Electronics 146th committee in the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) and the international organizing committee for ISEC 2009.
ISEC has established itself as the leading meeting specialized in superconductor-based electronics, and the first conference was held in Tokyo, Japan, 1987. Since then, the conference has been organized every two years among USA, Europe and Japan.
This conference gives opportunity to present the latest developments in the superconductive electronics research, and to interact among the world's experts with maximal interchange between the various topics.
The conference was very successful with 253 participants and 213 presentations from 17 countries, as listed in Table I.
The main theme at ISEC 2009 was developments of superconductive devices and electronics systems for advanced sensing, medical, communication and information technologies.
Technical topics covered at ISEC 09 include
(1) RF Electronics
(2) Mixers and Detectors
(3) Digital/Mixed Signal Processing
(4) SQUIDs and Their Applications
(5)Thin Film Materials, Junctions and Novel devices.
Table II shows the number of presentations in each session, including 3 Plenary talks and 7 Selected Topics. In each session, latest developments were presented, demonstrating the superiority of the superconductive electronics systems (Fig. 1). The results were promising and encouraging for the realization of application systems.
Since the conference covered wide topics from device physics to application systems, it offered a good opportunity for interdisciplinary researchers to exchange information and deeply discuss the issues to be solved. This interdisciplinary cooperation is very important to realize practical systems. We can clarify the present status and future trend of the superconductive electronics.
As social programs, Welcome Party and Banquet were held during the conference (Fig. 2). It was a good chance for the participants to deepen and extend their personal relationships between different countries and fields. Especially, young researches were exciting to see and directly contact many distinguished persons in this field.
Conference papers were recorded as the book and CD-ROM of extended abstracts. Very high quality presentations were selected and published as a special edition of Superconductor Science and Technology (SuST) for ISEC 2009. In addition, Young Researcher Awards were given to 9 outstanding presentations to encourage young researchers.
Finally, it was announced that next conference will be held in Den Haag (Netherlands) in 2011, which will be chaired by Prof. H. Rogalla in Twente University.

| 3. Future Prospect |
| Superconductive Electronics has so far been much contributed to the development of fundamental sciences, and recognized as indispensable one for highly sensitive detection systems. Based on these successes, many efforts have been made to apply the superconductive electronics to advanced sensing, medical, communication and information technologies. It is expected that many practical systems will be established in the near future.
