10.Summary of Research Results
|
This project has obtained the following six results. (1) Surveying design process of the four groups of engineers, excellent engineers who were awarded technology prize from the Japan Society of Mechanical engineers and ordinary engineers, more than ten years experienced engineers and less experienced engineers, characteristics of design process for each group were found. Using the obtained knowledge through this survey, a supporting system for the less experienced engineers has been constructed. (2) Meta-concept thinking method was created which helps engineers to create new ideas in design process. (3) A new development method, Design Navigation Method was created. By this method critical design parameters can be determined fulfilling the functional requirements among which even trade-off exists through minimum number of experiments. This method overcomes the defects of Taguchi Method. If this method is widely used in industries, strength of Japanese manufacturing industries will be increased. (4) To improve technology-oriented product development and produce human-oriented product, Needs Technology Cycle was created. Applying this method the human-oriented CNC lathe has been made, and not only technical performance is fulfilled but also operator feels pride and joy in manufacturing as well as high productivity is obtained with this machine. (5) In this century artifacts must be made considering not only physical aspect but also psychological aspect. So satisfaction measurement system has been developed as well as design methodology using the measurement system was created. (6) In future assembly work will be done under the cooperation of a robot. For this purpose model of human operation state was constructed using Kohonen self-organizing feature map. The book "Development Design Engineers" (ISBN4-7693-2155-4) (in Japanese) has been published, which the results of (1) to (5) are explained in detail. |
