１０．研究成果の概要

本年度は、昨年度に引き続き新しい機能が期待されるナノサイズ炭素分子系を中心として、ケイ素分子系も含めた新材料の作製と、それに関連する表面、界面反応及びそれらの応用について検討し、以下のような成果を得た。
　(1)等方性ピッチを原料として、世界最高の初期充電量と放電効率を有する新しいリチウムイオン電池用新炭素材料を作製し、その特性を明らかにした。さらに新炭素材料の分子構造とリチウムイオンの分布、表面・界面でのダイナミクスを理論的に明らかにし、高性能のメカニズムを解明した。
　(2)均一長高配向多層カーボンナノチューブの合成には、基盤表面での金属ナノ粒子の形成とダイナミックな挙動の制御が重要であることを明らかにし、最良の反応系を示した。これは高性能のカーボンナノチューブの大量合成と新たな機能応用の道を拓くものである。
　(3)レーザーアブレーション法において、波長選択性という新しい現象を見出し、これを用いて超薄膜ナノサイズ炭素、分子系の作製方法を確立した。さらにこの薄膜系炭素材料におけるリチウムイオンの挙動を明らかにした。
　(4)燃料電池における水素と酸素の金属表面の化学反応を、密度汎関数法と白金クラスターを用いて解析し、水素原子の白金層移動過程が最も重要であること、及びそのメカニズムを初めて明らかにした。
　(5)ケイ素系デンドリマー等、種々の分子系の表面・界面を含めた反応過程、物性を量子化学的に明らかにした。
