FUTURE ACTIVITIES

Proposed Seminars
A workshop on “Melanoma and Skin Cancer” to be held in Tokyo in November 1987 will be organized by Dr. T.B. Fitzpatric from the United States and Dr. J. Kukita and Dr. K. Jimbo from Japan.
The purpose of the meeting is to discuss etiology, biology and clinical features of melanoma and skin cancer for obtaining a comprehensive understanding on these lesions. The comparison of these lesions between two countries will also be discussed. If conditions permit, under the category of symposium, 9 are expected to participate from the United States, and 16 speakers and another 10 observers from Japan.
A workshop on “Familial Cancer” to be held in Hawaii will be organized by Dr. Robert Miller and Dr. Frederick Li from the United States and Dr. H. Sugano from Japan.

Proposed Exchange Scientists
1. Eiichi Tahara, Professor in Pathology, Hiroshima University, will visit Dr. J. Schlom NCI, NIH for studying oncogene products and growth factors in cancer tissue for 30 days in November-December 1987.
2. Shigetada Nakanishi, Professor, Kyoto University, will visit Dr. W. Gilbert, Harvard University, and Dr. K. Kingsburg, NIH, to discuss gene regulation, cloning and mapping.
3. Toshihiro Fukuda, Professor in Public Health, Kurume Medical College, will visit Dr. L. A. Brindon, NCI, NIH, Dr. T. Mak, Southern California University, and Dr. N. Kolonel Hawa Cancer Center, for studying on epidemiology of maxillar cancer and pancreas cancer for 30 days in July-August 1987.
