ADMINISTRATIVE REPORT

This report summarizes activities of the U.S.-Japan Cooperative Cancer Research Program for the Japanese Fiscal Year 1982, the period between April 1982 and March 1983.
The Program consists of the following program areas:

I. Etiology
II. Biology and Diagnosis
III. Treatment
IV. Interdisciplinary Program and Coordination

The types of activities supported under the auspices of the Program are seminars and exchange of scientists. The table presented below indicates the activities of each program area during this reporting period, and the following chapters of program area reports describe in detail the objectives, achievements, and future plans for each program area.

3. EXCHANGE OF MATERIALS

Although several samples of pyrolysis mutagens and indole alkaloids were sent to U.S. scientists from the National Cancer Center Research Institute and many tumor promoters with sea weed origins were received by the National Cancer Center Research Institute from the University of Hawaii, these exchanges were made at the level of investigators with collaborative interests. However, these exchanges were encouraged by interactions of scientists between the two nations promoted under this program (see Attachment I this section).
