EXCHANGE OF MATERIALS

Dr. Naoyoshi Mori brought back material from two cases of hairy cell leukemia from Dr. Kadin's laboratory in Seattle to Tsukuba and examined leukemic cells by electron immunoperoxidase. He obtained data that some cases of hairy cell leukemia derive from B lymphocytes.
In research area of adult T cell leukemia (ATL) and cutaneous T cell lymphoma, Dr. Yohei Ito, Dr. Tadao Aoki and other Japanese researchers sent sera from patients with ATL to Dr. Robert Gallo, NCI. Dr. Aoki and other Japanese doctors received monoclonal anti P24 and P19 antibodies from Dr. Gallo. Dr. Gallo received ATL cell line (MT-1) established by Dr. Iso Miyoshi through Dr. Minowada, Roswell Park Memorial Institute.
After the Seattle meeting, Dr. Mitsuaki Yoshida and Dr. Robert Gallo exchanged cDNA and mRNA which contain genomes and gene products of ATLV and HTLV.
