FUTURE PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT
Having succeeded in cooperation in treatment of gastric cancer and lung cancer, plans are being made to extend the program to establish collaborative research on treatment of breast cancer in 1980 fiscal year. In this plan, chemotherapy combined with other modalities of treatment, and also the problem of hormone receptors and hormone therapy, will be the most interesting items for discussions. The difference in prognosis and hormone-dependency of the breast cancer among patients in the United States and Japan will also be a focus of investigation. The seminars on treatment of bladder cancer, and immunotherapy will be followed in 1981 FY. The development of new treatment modalities and new drugs in Phase I and II studies will be reviewed and discussed, which is an important activity to maintain continuity in this area of the program.
