Aims and Goals

The committee’s goal is to develop and advance the new field of system design and integration in Japan by organizing cooperative academia-industry committees that are focused on the science and technology of this field and on next-generation electronic device systems and that promote close liaisons among researchers and engineers from different fields of specialization in academia and industry.

Research Themes

1. Devising methodologies for designing and integrating large and complex data systems, physical systems, and economic systems
(1) New design (conceptual design) theories
(2) Multi-objective optimization and decision-making support system theories
(3) Collaboration, integration, and optimization design theories and techniques
2. Creating next-generation electronic device systems
(1) Creating next-generation system LSI models and delineating their future promise
(2) Next-generation special purpose SIPs (example: supercomputer with 3D chip stacks)
(3) Establishing new guiding principles for next-generation electronic device systems
3. All-digital management techniques
(1) Rough system design
(2) Digital design manufacturing systems
4. Education and training
(1) Foundations for interdisciplinary methods for teaching science and technology from different fields
(2) Foundations for system solution-oriented educational techniques
(3) Thorough research into the concept of a next-generation education and research center for system innovation
