Outstanding research and development of amorphous materials and nano-crystalline materials—primarily for metals, ceramics, and semiconductors—has led to the discovery of numerous new materials that possess new functions, with expectations for additional academic and industrial progress in this field into the future.
With that in mind, the committee’s goals are to promote wide-ranging scientific research in the fields of physics and engineering and joint research between academia and industry, investigative research in these fields, international discussions and exchanges of information, the development of young researchers, and additionally to advance research and development of amorphous and nano-crystalline materials.
| 1. | Elucidation of the structures and formation mechanisms of amorphous materials, quasicrystals, and nano-crystals |
|---|---|
| 2. | Development of new materials with practical applications, such as amorphous alloys, alloy glass, nanostructure control alloys, and nanocomposite ceramics |
| 3. | Creation of nanosized magnetic particle media and nanogranular magnetic thin films, along with research into magnetic properties |
| 4. | Research into the basic properties of amorphous and nano-crystalline semiconductor materials and development and application of light emitting and receiving devices |
| 5. | Development of nanofusion materials with the aim of blending nanometer-sized materials and devices from other sectors |
