This committee was established in 1947 with the objective of promoting the effective use of Japan's mineral resources.
The committee is composed of members from related academic and industrial fields and meets at a nearly monthly pace for members to introduce issues related to matters they are researching and exchange information. The meetings include two study tours. The committee has established procedures to hold research conferences or establish subcommittees on an on-going basis related to necessary solutions to problems pointed out at the meetings. To date, subcommittees on sericite, clay, Germanium resources, steel slag, natural zeolite, etc., have met, publishing numerous publications (some of which are for sale) and achieving great successes. The committee has held research conferences on road aggregates, converter refractory materials, cleaning up subsoil and water pollution, etc., making significant contributions to various fields of industry. Some of this research has been shared at international symposia, and committee members have also received recognition from related international scientific societies.
