 On 15-18 October, the seventh Sweden-Japan BioNano Workshop was held in Stockholm. In it, the discussion was advanced around presentations by Prof. Masuo Aizawa, former president, Tokyo Institute of Technology, and Prof. Teruo Okano, Tokyo Women's Medical University, on the Japanese side, and researchers from the Karolinska Institutet on the Swedish side. In addition to these high-quality research presentations, the workshop provided an opportunity for a number of young researchers to participate in the discussion. This series of workshops was introduced at the Japan-Sweden Joint Committee on Cooperation in Science and Technology held in May as a successful example of joint research and researcher exchanges carried out between the two countries. On the first night of the workshop, a reception co-hosted by the JSPS Stockholm Office and the Embassy of Japan in Sweden was held at the Ambassador's residence. Attended by some 40 researchers from the two countries, the reception provided a good opportunity for them to get acquainted with each other and exchange views in prelude to the next day’s workshop. - JSPS Stockholm Office  |
