1. What prompted you decide to participate in the "JSPS Science Dialogue" program?
- After getting proposal from JSPS Science Dialogue desk, certainly I discussed the matter with my host professor, and we decided that participating to this program is a kind of responsibility for the JSPS fellow. Also, I realized that such program is an opportunity for me as because I could share and focused the area of my research interest with the students who would carry out the pace of biological science, in future. Finally, I had keen interest to know the schooling system in Japan and can easily compare to our country's schooling systems. All these tempted me to step forward.
2. To what did you give greatest attention in preparing and giving the lecture?
-Just I had tried to bring the student's interest towards the current movement of biological science. My intention was that the students could get the essence of my story and also can think and realize the beauty in the research of biological science.
3. Did you find it difficult to give a lecture in English to Japanese students? Could you give some advice to future lecturers on how to facilitate communication with Japanese students?
-Since I could speak Japanese well, I delivered my lectures using both the English and Japanese languages. I didn't find any problem even when I contact with them in using English.
4. Could you give your impression with regard to participating in this program?
-I feel happy to participate with this program. I gathered deep knowledge by sharing experiences with the students and the other staffs of the school. Here, just I can put one nice example. The school students asked me questions one after another about my Bangladeshi cultures when I was giving lecture on the basic cultural differences between Japan and Bangladesh, indicating that the students has also interest to know the other nationality, their cultures, life-style etc. Is not that the students are becoming international-minded? We should nourish and patronize such mentality.
5. Was it meaningful in terms of your fellowship activities?
-I think so. Off course, we are here to carry out research activities and that is the ultimate goal for both the JSPS authority and fellow himself. However, such a program like ‘Science Dialogue' gives a different taste to the fellow by breaking the tedious routine life. It may boost up the momentum of my works.
6. In what ways do you think the students benefited from the program?
-First, the students would have opportunity to know how and what ways the higher academic activities are running in around the world. It means that the exchange of ideas and thoughts among the scientists in the world is the base of modern research. Secondly, they may be motivated towards the higher education.
7. Could you give some overall advice or comments to future participants in the program?
-In my consideration and justification, a program such like "Science Dialogue" has beneficial impact to the college students. Fellows can get different taste to be a participant. Thus, all the parties involved with it. i.e. the JSPS authority, the fellow himself and, finally, the students (the target group) should be positive.
