Comments from Dr. Kuad

1. What prompted you decide to participate in the "JSPS Science Dialogue" program?

It was my second Science Dialogue experiment. As the first one was really enjoyable, I was asking for a second try.

2. To what did you give greatest attention in preparing and giving the lecture?

I tried to talk about general topics, without going too deeply into chemistry or my research and to make the experiment part as catchy as possible.

3. Did you find it difficult to give a lecture in English to Japanese students? Could you give some advice to future lecturers on how to facilitate communication with Japanese students?

The student of my lab who joined me for the lecture really made the communication easy, especially during the experiment part.

4. Could you give your impression with regard to participating in this program?

I think that this program is a rewarding experience. Seeing young and enthusiastic students allowed me to refresh my mind.

5. Was it meaningful in terms of your fellowship activities?

It is useful to be able to talk or explain our work with non-specialized people. Making this lecture to high school is a great chance to learn how to.

6. In what ways do you think the students benefited from the program?

The students were 1st year high school students. At this time they don't have the chance yet practice experimental work. The Science Dialogue program is an opportunity to enjoy or science by discussing and carrying out simple experiments.

7. Could you give some overall advice or comments to future participants in the program?

Try to get the students involved, Get contact with the high school teacher to know about their expectations.
