1. What prompted you decide to participate in the "JSPS Science Dialogue" program?
I promptly decided to participate in the "JSPS Science Dialogue" program due to some reasons. Firstly, it was good chance to introduce about my country and my interest research field to Japanese high school students. Secondly, I perceived better about Japanese education system and culture as well as improving my given lecture experience. Thirdly, Japanese high school students (young Japanese generation) could obtain and update not only the various concepts of new sciences but also to understand about the worldwide culture.
2. To what did you give greatest attention in preparing and giving the lecture?
I made great efforts to prepare lecture with the simple way to illustrate for easy understanding about the concepts of allelopathy and exploiting for sustainable agriculture production.
3. Did you find it difficult to give a lecture in English to Japanese students? Could you give some advice to future lecturers on how to facilitate communication with Japanese students?
I have not found any difficulty to give the lecture in English to Japanese students. However, it is perfect if accompanying with Interpreter whom fully understands about the research field of lecturer.
4. Could you give your impression with regard to participating in this program?
The behavior of high school students to my lecture and the wise mind of Ikeda high school students they eagerly listened and concentrated on my talk. It was also great pleasure to meet Ikeda high school staff, and the attendance of Ms. Sachiko Mitsui (JSPS Overseas Fellowship Division).
5. Was it meaningful in terms of your fellowship activities?
Surely, it was very meaningful. Not only for fellowship activities, it has also helped students to imagine about various scientific spheres. It is a direct way and very useful for students to imagine about the concept of sciences.
6. In what ways do you think the students benefited from the program?
Students could understand about the concept of allelopathy as well as the basic and principle of the biological weed control by integrating allelopathy into agriculture.
7. Could you give some overall advice or comments to future participants in the program?
All oversea JSPS fellows should participate in this program. During lecture preparation, doer should find the easy ways for student being absorbable. Not only inviting lectures at high school, but also similar lectures should be done at secondary schools.
