1. What prompted you decide to participate in the "JSPS Science Dialogue" program?
Chance to interact with Japanese school student and talk about my research and country
2. To what did you give greatest attention in preparing and giving the lecture?
Presentation should be more of figures /pictures /flow chart types, rather then text. Since, it is difficult to explain the terms used in my research work to those who aren't familiar with such types of work; I made my presentation likewise just adding the simple keywords. Whilst delivering my talk I made efforts to speak slowly and clearly.
3. Did you find it difficult to give a lecture in English to Japanese students? Could you give some advice to future lecturers on how to facilitate communication with Japanese students?
Not exactly, as before my talk I provided the hand outs of my presentation to the student that enable them to familiarize themselves what I am going to talk.
Since it is a Dialogue, it is better to provide a time gap between presentation and question and use more time for discussion.
4. Could you give your impression with regard to participating in this program?
I appreciate it very much. It is all the way a successful program.
5. Was it meaningful in terms of your fellowship activities?
Yes, it was meaningful to participate in JSPS science dialogue program with Japanese school student's especially, a kind of experience, which I never had earlier though I often teach graduate students in my country.
6. In what ways do you think the students benefited from the program?
The JSPS science dialogue program is very beneficial to school students because this was good chance for them to feel and see the international researcher works in Japanese University or research institutes and of course an opportunity to hear English talk on advanced frontier areas of science, which I think never happen at least in high schools.
7. Could you give some overall advice or comments to future participants in the program?
It is a nice experience for JSPS fellows. JSPS fellow can get some unknown question about his/her research what s/he never thinks. One must provide the handout as early as possible so that students can study before the lecture. I also requested all JSPS fellow to participate in this program for the benefit of both of fellow and school student.
