1. What prompted you decide to participate in the "JSPS Science Dialogue" program?
A sense of redeeming the Japanese society for the fellowship they granted me. Curiosity for the Japanese school system and the wish to transmit some of the knowledge I may hold.
2. To what did you give greatest attention in preparing and giving the lecture?
Raising students curiosity. I unfortunately did not manage to free enough time to think more deeply about the level of my presentation (which was very high) so I chose to present thing originally.
3. Did you find it difficult to give a lecture in English to Japanese students? Could you give some advice to future lecturers on how to facilitate communication with Japanese students?
Ritsumeikan high school students are particularly in English. Language was not a major issue. Tailoring the content of the presentation to their actual biology level and internet was much tougher.
4. Could you give your impression with regard to participating in this program?
Very good and if I had more time, I would still love to participate again.
5. Was it meaningful in terms of your fellowship activities?
Yes, this certainly adds a cultural dimension to the scientific one.
6. Could you give some overall advice or comments to future participants in the program?
Not really. This is my second participation in the program and each participation is a different challenge. In general, be sure that if you think the content is right, then it's still too hard and make sure to speak simple, slow and intelligibly.
