Comments from Dr. Isram

1. What prompted you decide to participate in the "JSPS Science Dialogue" program?

To be acquainted with the school academic environment and to exchange views with the school students prompted me decide to participate in the "JSPS Science Dialogue" program.

2. To what did you give greatest attention in preparing and giving the lecture?

I tried to focus on my country as well as on my research activities.

3. Did you find it difficult to give a lecture in English to Japanese students? Could you give some advice to future lecturers on how to facilitate communication with Japanese students?

- I did not find any difficulty while delivering my lecture in English to Japanese students as each and every part of my lecture was translated into Japanese by a Japanese fellow scientist of our laboratory.
In my opinion, a Japanese translator may immensely be helpful for better understanding of the school students.

4. Could you give your impression with regard to participating in this program?

I am very glad to participate in JSPS Science Dialogue at Niitsu High School. I have got an opportunity to share my scientific knowledge with Japanese school students through this program. I have enjoyed the program very much. It has added some sweet memories in my life.

5. Was it meaningful in terms of your fellowship activities?

Yes, it will have a positive impact in terms of my fellowship activities as I could have disseminated some of my research output to the students. This will lead the students to make scientific progress in future.

6. In what ways do you think the students benefited from the program?

- The students have been introduced with a foreign scholar and the activities of a new country, Bangladesh. They also have got an exposure on my innovative research activities. I do hope that this will motivate the students to build up their brilliant career in future.

7. Could you give some overall advice or comments to future participants in the program?

- It will be better if the participant (JSPS Fellow) has teaching experience and motivating capacity.
- Language is a barrier to make the students understand. So a Japanese translator might be helpful in this regard.
- The students may be benefited from the innovative research provided it is explained in a simple manner.

Finally, I like to say that JSPS Science Dialogue is a very good venture to share scientific knowledge with the school students. Hope it will make satisfactory progress in terms of its ultimate goal.
