1. What prompted you decide to participate in the "JSPS Science Dialogue" program?
It is very interesting experience to interact with Japanese people, especially young students. It is good opportunity to find some similarities and differences between our culture, way of communications and so forth.
2. To what did you give greatest attention in preparing and giving the lecture?
I have been trying to prepare a seminar in a very easy way to understand by students without good knowledge in chemistry, physics and English language. Firstly I introduced Poland as a country and culture of polish society. I have tried to make understand students of meaning importance of science in ordinary life. I put attention that today's our life cannot be like that without any progress in science.
3. Did you find it difficult to give a lecture in English to Japanese students? Could you give some advice to future lecturers on how to facilitate communication with Japanese students?
Not at all. I found that very important, before giving lecture is good communications with a teacher in charge to hold it in school. She/he can gives us many advices and can prepare students for such lesson, learning some proper English words, which could help them in better understanding.
4. Could you give your impression with regard to participating in this program?
Giving a lecture to Japanese students was good and fine experience for me. Some of them can understand spoken English language, the other find it very difficult. Probably we speak too much, too fast in a complicated way for them. The most difficult, probably, was to answering on my questions.
5. Was it meaningful in terms of your fellowship activities?
Learn us to communicate with people(even in science) whereas presentation. It is useful for some conferences-we learn how to build some sentences in very easy way to understand for people not involved in our study.
6. In what ways do you think the students benefited from the program?
Interacting with students, asking them can make them more brave in speaking English, give some motivations (I hope) to learn different languages. Students can learn also something about science(OK, very few things,but...)that is very important in daily life.
They have surprise that such products like, for example washing machine or mobile phone are thanks to progress in science.
7. Could you give some overall advice or comments to future participants in the program?
Try to discuss with person from school. Prepare the presentations with some tips on slides. This will be very helpful for students, in case if you want to ask them about something.
