Comments from Dr. Huang

1. What prompted you decide to participate in the "JSPS Science Dialogue" program?

I decided to participate in the "JSPS Science Dialogue" program because (1) it is a good opportunity to communicate with Japanese and share my experiences and research with the high school students; and (2) it is also a good practice for me to make a presentation well in English.

2. To what did you give greatest attention in preparing and giving the lecture?

Because the listeners are high students, I tried to do my best to prepare my presentation and make it more interesting, attractive, and understandable.

3. Did you find it difficult to give a lecture in English to Japanese students? Could you give some advice to future lecturers on how to facilitate communication with Japanese students?

No, I don't think it is difficult for me to give a lecture in English to Japanese students. My advices to future lecturers are: (1) Prepare your project in detail; (2) Make it interesting; and (3) Make it easy to be understood by the students.

4. Could you give your impression with regard to participating in this program?

My impression with regard to participating in this program is that the teachers of the school are very serious and responsible in arranging my lecture.

5. Was it meaningful in terms of your fellowship activities?

Yes, it is an interesting activity during my JSPS post-doctoral research in Japan.

6. In what ways do you think the students benefited from the program?

It might be an opportunity for the students to learn some new scientific knowledge and improve their English language.

7. Could you give some overall advice or comments to future participants in the program?

It would be better to inform the JSPS fellow more time in advance so that the fellow and the school teachers have more time to exchange their opinions each other before the lecture.
