1. What prompted you decide to participate in the "JSPS Science Dialogue" program?
I participated because I think it may help some students to choose RESEARCH as their future way of life. I think RESEARCH is very important for the future of any country and for the whole world.
2. To what did you give greatest attention in preparing and giving the lecture?
Simplicity and clearance.
3. Did you find it difficult to give a lecture in English to Japanese students? Could you give some advice to future lecturers on how to facilitate communication with Japanese students?
Yes. I do not think it is a good idea to give the lecture in English. It should be in JAPANESE.I am not an english teacher and my purpose is not to improve their english ability. I am a scientist and my purpose is to create interest in science and research in them, this can not be achieved while they did not understand most of what I was saying.
4. Could you give your impression with regard to participating in this program?
It was interesting.
5. In what ways do you think the students benefited from the program?
I am afraid not much, read answer no. 3.
6. Could you give some overall advice or comments to future participants in the program?
Prepare your presentation in Japanese, do not forget to present your own country and culture, it may be the only thing the student will enjoy.
