Comments from Dr. Han

1.  What prompted you decide to participate in the “JSPS Science Dialogue” program?

I just wanted to give something little by little back.

2.  To what did you give greatest attention in preparing and giving the lecture?

I focused on what they want to know, which research fields still remains to be solved, and how to make them better understand my talk.

3.  Did you find it difficult to give a lecture in English to Japanese students? Could you give some advice to future lecturers on how to facilitate communication with Japanese students?

I have no idea how much they understood my talk. And see the answer to question #7.

4.  Could you give your impression with regard to participating in this program?

Since this SSH program would give many young students more opportunities to meet scientists and to hear their lectures, I think that it could be better to expand this program to much more students.

5.  Was it meaningful in terms of your fellowship activities?

Yes, it was. It makes me introspect how to work from now on.

6.  In what ways do you think the students benefited from the program?

Definitely.

7.  Could you give some overall advice or comments to future participants in the program?

Personally, although 30 minutes talk in English is still important, having more time with them in order to talk with them and listen to their thinking would be more important, I think.
