A delegation of the Korea Science and Engineering Foundation (KOSEF), headed by Mr. Young-Dae MIN, Director General for academic exchanges, visited JSPS to hold a Joint Staff Meeting and exchange ideas on scientific relations between the two countries.

Prof. Motoyuki Ono, president of JSPS, welcomed the delegation, saying "I enjoyed the Asia-HORCs meeting last November. Thanks to KOSEF chairman KIM's support, it went very well. I also look forward to attending the Japan-Korea Joint Committee Meeting for Basic Science Research in May." The delegation from KOSEF also had Mr. Byung-Whan HO, Director of the International Program Division, Ms. Yera LEE, Program Manager of the International Program Division and Dr. Kyeong Su JANG, Head of KOSEF Tokyo Office.

At the Joint Staff Meeting, held on 3 February 2004, ideas were exchanged on a range of cooperative activities carried out by the two organizations, including the Japan-Korea Basic Scientific Cooperation Program, Core University Program, RONPAKU Program, and Asian Academic Seminar.

The members of the KOSEF delegation also attended a Japanese Core University Administrative Meeting held on 2 February at JSPS's headquarters, where they exchanged greetings with program participants from the Japanese core universities. Currently, JSPS and KOSEF support six core university projects, all of which are progressing well.
