Project for Establishing Core Universities for Internationalization (Global 30)

Rooted in the framework of the “300,000 International Students Plan,” enacted by MEXT and other ministries, this project was established in 2009 to elevate the international competitiveness of Japanese tertiary education while fostering students and researchers on internationalized campuses so as to give them the ability to play active roles in the global arena.

The selected universities are expected to develop themselves as Japan’s leading internationalization hubs by providing a high quality of education and an environment that makes it easy for students from other countries to study in Japan.

In carrying out this program, JSPS established the “Global 30 Committee” to oversee the grant selection process and assess the performance of the program’s core universities.
