HOW TO APPLY FOR THIS PROGRAM
  1. APPLICATION PROCEDURE FOR BOTH PROGRAMS
    2. JSPS takes two application procedures for these programs:
    1. Japanese researchers submit applications wishing to invite a foreign researcher.
    2. Foreign nominating authorities recommend candidates from their respective countries. A person of the nationality or citizenship of any of the countries listed in nominating authorities (Table#II) may apply using the latter procedure.

    1.APPLICATION FROM A JAPANESE HOST RESEARCHER
    Applications for these programs must be submitted to JSPS by the inviting researchers in Japan through the head of his/her institution. Foreign researchers wishing to participate in either of these programs are advised to establish contact with a Japanese or foreign resident researcher in their field and to ask him/her to submit an application. They should make this contact well in advance of the host institution’s application deadline indicated below.Application materials are distributed to the inviting institutions.

    Note:
    • JSPS does not find or introduce host researchers.
    • JSPS does not accept applications submitted directly by foreign researchers or through diplomatic channels.

    2.APPLICATION THROUGH A FOREIGN NOMINATING AUTHORITY
    JSPS also receives applications for the program through foreign nominating authorities (Table#II). Regarding this procedure, please contact the nominating authority in your country.

  2. FIELDS OF RESEARCH
    All fields of the humanities, social sciences and natural sciences are included under these programs.

  3. HOST RESEARCH INSTITUTIONS
    To be eligible, Japanese researchers (applicants) must be affiliated with Type A/B institution of the types listed in Table I-2012.

    Notification
    Notification of selection results will be made to the applicants (host researchers) on the following dates. An award letter will be issued from JSPS to the successful candidates at the same time.
