After funded projects are completed, a post-project evaluation is carried out. It appraises the degree to which the objectives of the core institution’s implementation plan have been effectively achieved. Also appraised is the appropriateness of the measures that the institution has taken in responding to the results of interim evaluations. The post-project evaluation also serves as an opportunity to offer advice to core institutions on the sustainable advancement of their education and research programs after project funding ends and on ways to further improve the programs’ quality. Furthermore, by elucidating the achievements of each core institution and disseminating them to society, a double purpose is served: (1) wider public understanding is gained for the institutions’ education and research activities, and (2) public support for them is promoted. Post-project evaluations are conducted through a process of document and panel reviews, and, when deemed necessary, a site inspection and/or hearing is held.
