Institutional Program for Young Researcher Overseas Visits

International Research Experience for Students and Young Researchers

Using an allocation from the Japanese government's FY2009 supplemental budget, JSPS is to establish the Researcher Overseas Visit Fund, under which it carries out a program called "International Research Experience for Students and Young Researchers".

The program expands opportunities for the young researchers, graduate students and undergraduate students who will shoulder Japan's future to be dispatched overseas with higher degree of intensity and mobility than in the past. Gaining research experience via the cooperative relationships between Japanese universities and research institutions and their overseas counterparts, a pool of students and young researchers will be fostered who can go on to strengthen Japan's international competitiveness.

This program has two components: the Excellent Young Researcher Overseas Visit Program, under which support is offered on an individual basis, and the Institutional Program for Young Researcher Overseas Visits, under which support is provided on an institutional basis.
