BACKGROUND: The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) and the National Cancer Institute (NCI) are conducting collaborative research under the U.S.-Japan Cooperative Cancer Research Program in the following three program areas:
- Basic Science
- Clinical Science
- Epidemiology & Behavioral Science
Each fiscal year, one fairly small scientific seminar is jointly organized under the program in each of the three program areas.
Since last year, one large symposium covering the three program areas has also been jointly organized. This is the second large symposium; the first was held last year in the US.
