Forum for Nuclear Cooperation in Asia (FNCA), Mutation Breeding Project, Cooperation of Ion Beam Irradiation for Rice Breeding
The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science held the "Forum for Nuclear Cooperation in Asia (FNCA), Mutation Breeding Project, Cooperation of Ion Beam Irradiation for Rice Breeding," co-sponsored by the Japan Atomic Energy Agency and the Nuclear Safety Research Association, on 18-22 January 2009.
Attended by specialists from countries participating in the Forum for Nuclear Cooperation in Asia (i.e., Bangladesh, China, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam), the event, held in cooperation with related Japanese research institutions, featured a workshop on ion-beam irradiation used in rice breeding. Along with specialized sessions and technology exchanges, collaboration was initiated in the area of ion-beam radiation.
