Symposium"The International Human Resource Development and Formation of Asian R&D Community" Held

A Symposium titled as “The International Human Resource Development and Formation Asian R&D Community” was held in Bangkok, Thailand on 2 November, 2006. The symposium was jointly organized by Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT), National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), and Thai Society of Biotechnology (TSB).

Participants from Japan, Thailand and neighboring countries discussed on university reform in order to educate students who will be able to establish international careers. They also actively discussed on fostering young researchers in the biotechnology field and building international alliance of academic societies in the Southeast Asian region.

Possible joint R&D projects and jointly human resource development were also discussed in the following fields: environmental technology, energy technology, wastewater treatment technology, and disaster management by using satellite monitoring system.
