Flexible International Exchanges

 
 

Outline

 

Under this program, the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) flexibly holds or co-organizes international exchanges (e.g. international conferences, symposia and workshops, and sends/recieves scientists) in collaboration with universities, research institutions and scientific societies in an effort to build an S&T community that strengthens regional partnership while working to resolve issues common to Asian countries or to establish strategic bilateral or multilateral partnership between Japan and other Asian countries.


 

Focused Areas

 

JSPS holds or co-organizes the International exchange activities in science and technology

  • To strengthen research networks formed to address issues common to Asian countries (e.g. environmental problems, energy supply, disaster prevention, emerging infectious diseases, human resource development), or
  • To establish strategic bilateral or multilateral partnership between Japan and other Asian countries (e.g. joint scientific meetings based on bilateral agreements at governmental level).

 

Types of Projects in this Program

 
  • Holding of international conferences, symposia, workshops in Japan and in other Asian countries
  • Dispatching and receiving researchers

 

Principles of the Program

 

JSPS focuses on the following points in implementing this program to support networking activities carried out to solve the common issues within the Asian region.

  • Supporting the early-stage collaborative activities, and / or
  • Supporting networking activities that will accelerate collaboration among Asian countries and help achieve "critical mass" of collaboration in solving issues.
