The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science has
established a new liaison office in Stockholm, Sweden and appointed
Professor Yoshiro Shimura as its director. On Thursday May 31, 2001,
JSPS held a reception at the Sheraton Stockholm to celebrate the opening
of the office.

Scientist Exchanges

JSPS carries out scientist exchange programs with the below-listed countries in the Asian region. Based on agreements with partner agencies in the counterpart countries, various activities are carries out, including active researcher exchanges, joint research, scientific discussions, literature surveys, and fieldwork. JSPS, along with its partner agencies, supports airfares, living allowances and other costs related to such researcher exchanges.

For researchers from Japan going to Asian countries, applications are recruited and selected by JSPS. For researchers from other countries coming to Japan, nominations are made by JSPS's partner agencies.
