The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science has
established a new liaison office in Stockholm, Sweden and appointed
Professor Yoshiro Shimura as its director. On Thursday May 31, 2001,
JSPS held a reception at the Sheraton Stockholm to celebrate the opening
of the office.

Asian CORE Program

Having as its objective the establishment of Asian research hubs that conduct world-standard research and foster outstanding young researchers, this program supports joint research based on equal partnerships with counterpart countries. Over the 5-year duration of projects, JSPS supplies funding in an amount of up to ¥100 million(or up to ¥20 million per year)for projects started in FY2005 and FY2006, or up to ¥60 million (or ¥12 million per year) for projects started after FY2007 and FY2008, and asks partner agencies to shoulder equal burden sharing.
